Finally, Kings XI Punjab tasted their first win in the first edition of IPL by beating Mumbai Indians by 66 runs while Mumbai Indians still wait for their first win.  Kings XI Punjab scored 182 runs in 20 over with help of Kumar Sangakkara’s one-man performance. He scored important 94 runs in the match which helped Kings XI Punjab to reach 182 runs. NO other batsmen scored more than 20 runs. At one stage they were looking for over 200 runs but a fine performance from Mumbai Indians bowlers, they only managed 182 runs. Harbhajan Singh took 3 wickets for his team.

Chasing 183 runs, Mumbai Indians started their batting by an early wicket loss of Jayasuriya and then an unfortunate run out of Ronchi, which put them on back foot at 2/14. Since then they never recovered in the match and lost wickets at regular intervals. Uthappa and Bravo’s partnership gave some hope to Mumbai Indians but with the fall of both batsmen; they were out of the match. In bowling, Kings XI Punjab had two good performances - by young leg spinner Piyush Chawla and Aussie speed star Lee who bowled excellent spell. Lee gave only 9 runs in 4 over and took one wicket, while Chawla took 2 wickets for 16 runs in his 4 over.

Overall, Kings XI Punjab plays like a team and registered their first wins while Mumbai still looking for first win. They play like local city team and also we couldn’t see any team spirit among them which they need. I think Sachin’s comeback will give some hope to them.
