Kolkata Knight Riders came back to winning ways after 3 defeats in a row, defeating Bangalore Royal Challengers by five runs. Sourav Ganguly's side restricted Royal Challengers to 124 for four after posting a challenging score of 129 for seven in their allotted 16 overs. This match was shortened to a 16 overs game due to rain at the Eden Gardens. Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and choose to bat first in a rain interrupted match but they made a disasterous start and lost wickets. They never recovered from it and loss wickets at regular intervals to post only 129 runs in 16 overs. Hussey was the top scorer and made 26 runs 12 balls before run out. Steyn was the pick of the bowler as he took 3 wickets for 27 runs. J Arun Kumar and Shivnaraine Chanderpaul gave a perfect start to Royal Challengers' run chase but both loss their wickets with the score on 32. It gave hope for Kolkata who were looking for an important win. Rahul Dravid then arrived to the crease but was quickly dismissed by Ganguly and they looked as if they were struggling at 51/3 with a run-rate of below 6 an over. Boucher and Cameron White put on 45 in an impressive fourth-wicket partnership but it was not enough for them and they were short by 5 runs. After this match Kolkata have 6 points while Bangalore have only 4 points and they will stay at bottom. |
